Some useless facts
So what”’s melody was written in 5 minutes but it took me weeks to finish the lyrics! Basically about a girl that caught my eye “Cruel to be kind” was written with Twizzle, computer and musical whiz. Basically about a girl that messed with us “Reviens-moi” was written after introspection. It’s funny how friends can make you realize things about yourself that you never thought of (thanks Mélodiva!) “Si ou vé mwen” was the first song on the site. Its in Creole. Basically about what finding the right girl may do to me Notice the bass line and the drums. Entirely beat box. “If” was written after a relationship that went sour about 5 years ago “Please close the door” was written after my last relationship. I think u’ve guessed. It turned sour as well By the way, I’d like to say that all events described in my songs are purely fictitious. Any resemblance to reality is fortuitous. lol Peace! DDJ

I’m so excited! there’s just one last thing between me and my dream: Mr Paypal! "Eclectic"
That’s it! At long last, “Eclectic” is finished! All 18 tracks are recorded; the CD is ready, complete with labels and all. It’s taken a long time… 2 years – to gather the skills, the equipment, the time, the help. But now that all those resources are now available, I expect that my second album will arrive in half the time, twice the quality and why not, twice the quantity! Variety, the spice of life.
Picture the scene: We’re all the same colour. We are all called either Jonathan or Brenda. We all speak the same language. We all have the same car, the same house, same TV, computer and so on. We all have the same background, learn the same things. When we travel to another country, the landscapes are the same. When talking to someone from the other side of the planet, nothing he or she says surprises us, moves us or inspires us. No witty Chinese or African proverbs, we all have the same proverbs, same nursery rhymes. What the heck am I on about? I’m not trying to be a geek or a philosopher, all I’m saying is I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t last long in that world! I’d flipping die of boredom pretty quick! I thank God for all the variety in people, faces, places, cultures, languages and above all in food and music!!! Some may say that I’m a bit of a grasshopper, always after something else. Perhaps. I do get bored easily. But you know what? We are on average using just 10 % of our brains. May be we should all be grasshoppers, opening our minds, indulging in the variety before us…within reason of course! As for grasshopper me, I’ll keep on trying different types of music, seeking different experiences but staying true to who I am, “eclectic”.

No, I iz not da Greatest...
The wind in the trees, the sound of the waves on the beach, birds, heartbeats …It’s everywhere. You can’t escape it. Rhythm, music is everywhere. Do your eyes open wide in amazement at the display of colours the changing seasons offer you? Have you had arguments with your camera because it has difficulty in capturing the beauties you can see? Have you seen the mist turn a view into a surreal water-coloured painting? Did I or you do all that? The First, most prolific and Greatest Artist ever gives away His masterpieces for free every single day. He fills our lives with excitement, joy, even grants us the magic feeling of love. Been busy lately!!!
I ‘m hyper! Got myself new recording facilities! The ones we had broke hence the lack of additions to the music section! I intend to make up for all this lost time. So far we’ve recorded 9 more songs. 4 will be on the site in a matter of days. Expect variety in the style as usual, but also new and improved back up singing. I hope you find the melodies catchy and that you will enjoy listening to them at least 5% of how much I’ve enjoyed making them! Peace. DDJ

Guess who's back? Back again..
Well Hello, Bonjour, Buenas dias, Buon journo, Bonjou, Hallo, etc... I'm back from Gwada. Very enriching to get in touch with my roots again. Naturally, this trip inspired me and my latest addition to the site will show it. A blend of Zouk and R&B, my two favourites types of music...at the moment! But I have plans to try another genre again. I may try something very latino next. But anyway, as far as the music video is concerned, we now have a draft. Some retouches and additions are needed but I believe we are not far from presenting it to you. There are already talks about another video, this time for "Cruel 2 b kind" with Twizzle so Patience my friends, it's all coming your way! Peace out Didy Jay

Good ol' moan
Life is an odd journey! Wake up calls, slaps at each in every corner… Isn’t it odd that each time you don’t just sit around and let life pass you by there’s always something that goes wrong and you end up right back where you started?? Ever felt like running in circles? But I think its better for your health to run even if you don't get to the finish line as quickly as you thought. So I'll keep being busy, keep being crazy, keep producing, keep trying to grow spiritually, emotionally, musically because that’s what I am all about! On an even more positive note, I’ve got Scottie productions on the case for an upcoming new video of “IF”. We have started shooting scenes last weekend. What am I singing???
A bit of background on some of the songs you ve heard so far. “So what” was written a couple of months ago. Took me 5 minutes to write the melody and weeks to finish the lyrics… Mmmh Yeah, I know… I put it down to age! “Cruel to be kind” was written with Twizzle. We merged composing powers on both music and lyrics. We had fun- Does it not show?! “Reviens-moi” was written after an introspection. Entirely mouthed! “La pobrecita “ is the last addition but it was written a long time ago with a Cuban Friend (No he didn’t help with the words, just the music believe it or not!). Checked the spelling thanks to my Mexican friend Adriana. So Many Projects, So Little Time
At some point I will be adding a couple of music videos, random ones as well perhaps via Youtube or something.

So yeah, apart from that, a lot of my initial plans have changed! Decided that I will not sell my music until it is to a standard I am happy with. However, it's all copyrighted, so no selling without my permission or or it may well backfire!

First Blog entry init Aiiiight!
The wind in the trees, the sound of the waves on the beach , birds, heartbeats, …It’s everywhere. You can’t escape it. Rhythm, music is everywhere even within yourself. Music is force, reaching us at the deepest levels. Music can be therapy… If you succeed in channelling the good vibes it is able to release. I don’t want to limit myself with one type of music. Some say my music is French, some say it’s exotic, some say it’s R’N’Bish, some say its Caribbean… Perhaps you’ll say it’s something else? The truth is it doesn’t matter as long as it strikes a good chord. I am working towards creating an album which will include R’N’B, Zouk, Reggaetone, Hip Hop flavours (among others). Where else will this venture take me? Only time will tell. Imagination is less of a problem than time and means.. Anyway, for the time being, you can download from the site some of the songs that will feature on the album (thanks to Twizzle – Big shout to you!).
